Almonds. Dates. Ice. Water. Done.
This is the shortest recipe in NY Minute Now history! 😀
Literally, just a handful of each, and about a cup of water, makes for a truly delightful dessert beverage. To quote the Barefoot Contessa, “How easy was that?”
When I first heard the words “almond date shake” over a year ago during a yoga workshop, the prospect sounded yummy on the spot. But it wasn’t until this week that I actually attempted to whiz it up with the help of my recently acquired NutriBullet (thanks, Mom!). It’s just one of those “healthy” things that, in theory, you’d love to try “some time soon” but never get around to. Besides, 8 out of 10 delis/bodegas in New York City sell Ben & Jerry’s—’nuff said.
If you’ve made almond milk before, you’d know that combining almonds with water produces this surprisingly creamy liquid. (If you haven’t, at least try it once for the sheer joy of watching the transformation! I made some last year.) Add dates, and you’ve got yourself a sweet, frothy treat. Throw in half a banana if you like. Freeze that other piece of banana and next time you make this shake, it’ll turn into homemade ice cream. Sweet.
(I’ll try to take pics next time I make this!)
